CooperVision Notifies ECPs of Decision to Drop UPP for Biofinity Energys Lenses

PLEASANTON, Calif.—CooperVision, a unit of The Cooper Cos. (NYSE:COO), notified ECPs late last week that it was removing its Biofinity Energys contact lens product line from its Unilateral Pricing Policy (UPP) effective immediately. The move is a result of the “well-established [place] in the market” the lenses have achieved, the company said in a letter to eyecare professionals. In March, CooperVision announced that it was removing three other lens products from its UPP program: MyDay, clariti 1-day and Biofinity XR toric brands. (HKW), a private equity firm with offices in Indianapolis and New York, has acquired Allied Vision Group, an independent distributor of contact lenses, optical products and pet medications, according to a joint announcement earlier this week.
