Private-Equity Backed Eyeconic Vision Partners Acquires Phoenix Eyecare Group

NEW YORK—Cortec Group, a private equity firm with holdings in middle-market specialty health care businesses, announced last week that its portfolio company Eye Academy Holdings Inc. on July 6 acquired Swagel-Wootton Hiatt Eye Center (SWH) of Phoenix. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Eye Academy Holdings, also known as Eyeconic Vision Partners (EVP), is part of the Cortec Group Fund VI. Eyeconic Vision Partners, based in Denver, operates 13 clinics and six ambulatory surgery centers, and its network includes locations in Colorado, Texas and Arizona. LSGPA Invests an Additional $500,000 in MacuLogix

HARRISBURG, Pa.—The Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central Pennsylvania (LSGPA) has invested an additional $500,000 in MacuLogix, a company that equips eyecare professionals with the instruments, tools and education needed to effectively manage patients with Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The investment was part of a syndicate with other, unnamed investors and brings LSGPA’s total investment in the Middletown, Pa.-based firm to over $2 million. LSGPA invests in technology that helps to diagnose, monitor and treat AMD well before vision loss occurs. MacuLogix’s AdaptDx technology is designed to make early detection of AMD easier, faster and more reliable.
